Kerry Capiron
Figurative painter working in oils and drawing.
I am a fine artist specialising in figurative painting and portraiture. My work explores character, presence and emotional connection through observation, light colour and the physical qualities of paint.
I am interested in the relationship between outward appearance and inner experience, using portraiture and the figure to explore identity, vulnerability and the quiet moments that reveal something of a person’s story.

About my practice
I graduated in fine art painting in 1998 with a BA Hons from Northbrook College in Worthing.
I exhibited for several years after graduating including group exhibitions in London and the South East.
Although I moved away from painting for a period, creativity remained an important part of my life through drawing, digital work and a deep connection with the natural world.
I returned to sustained studio painting in 2025 and now work primarily in oils creating figurative paintings and portraits that combine careful observation with an emphasis on atmosphere emotion and connection.
Oil Paintings
My oil paintings focus on portraits and figurative work, aiming to capture more than likeness alone. I am interested in the character and presence of the sitter, using composition, colour, texture and light to create paintings that invite a deeper connection with the subject.

Presence
Whether painting a person, a figure or a still moment, I aim to create a sense of presence - an image that feels lived - in and invites the viewer to look beyond the surface.

Drawings
Drawing remains central to my practice. From quick studies to more developed figure drawings I use drawing to explore movement, proportion and expression, allowing me to engage directly with form and observation.
